49th ADB Annual Meeting. Delegations from 67countries hold a meeting in Frankfurt on the Main.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) dates back to an initiative by the United Nations for the development of the Asian region. It was established by 21 states - among them the former Federal Republic of Germany - in Manila in 1965 and is headquartered there. Today the bank comprises 67 member states. This year’s general meeting of the members took place in Frankfurt and was organised by the German Corporation for International Cooperation. Over the course of a week the board of directors, the delegations and visitors were meeting by the Main. German Chancellor Angela Merkel delivered the opening address. More than 4000 decision makers from Asia, Europe and the USA discussed, among other things, global issues such as climate protection, education, and fair working conditions. The event covered half the Messe Frankfurt grounds, comprising the Festhalle, the Forum including the Panorama hall, exhibition hall 3 including various rooms for the delegations, exhibition hall 5 including the media centre, around 20 individual rooms as well as the Congress Center’s big Harmonie hall, which was divided up into different areas. Apart from the regular subsections such as sound, lighting and video projection BTL provided 350 notebooks, copiers, printers, fax-machines and the entire network structure for the meeting and the delegations. Further technological services included Digital Signage and IP-TV, via which twelve parallel Full-HD video streams were delivered to six buildings and 50 terminals.
